Timberlake Wertenbaker is an American born English playwright who was born in New York (External Link), but grew up in the Basque Country near Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France(External Link). She attended schools in Europe and the US before settling permanently in London. Her breakthrough play, Our Country's Good is an adaptation of a book by Thomas Keneally and was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1988 (External Link). She is the author of many plays for the stage and for radio, and has translated works by authors including Jean Anouilh, Sophocles, and Euripides(External Link).
